You will learn how to identify the root cause of challenging behaviors and, most importantly, how to respond with empathy and effective, brain-based strategies.
The 7 hrs of training covers the following:
- Module 1: The Brain's Blueprint: A Different Kind of Construction This module introduces the core analogy that a brain with FASD is not broken, but built with a different blueprint.
- Module 2: A Quick Tour of the House: The Brain's Communication Signals You will learn about the four main communication signals of the brain (Executive Function, Memory, Sensory Regulation, and Emotional Regulation) and how they function in a brain with FASD.
- Module 3: Decoding Behaviour: It's Not What They Do, It's Why They Do It. This module teaches you how to shift your thinking from judging behaviour to understanding its underlying cause.
- Module 4: The Practical Toolkit: Becoming an "External Brain" This is where you'll get hands-on strategies to support individuals with FASD by providing external structure and guidance.
- Module 5: The Path Forward: A Commitment to Compassion The final module focuses on applying your new knowledge and committing to a compassionate, brain-based approach in all your interactions.
